This was a really entertaining and funny novella which I read in one sitting. I haven’t read The Curvy Girls Club but this worked well as a standalone read. It probably would have added to my enjoyment if I had known a little more about the background to the characters but there were no references that left me wondering what had happened. This novella tells of the pregnancies of Ellie, Katie and Jane – best friends all expecting at the same time, under varying circumstances. All have had weight issues in the past and I think that any woman who has ever had a baby will identify with the insecurities they feel about their bodies as their pregnancies progress. Ellie’s mother-in-law Millicent is hilariously awful, so domineering and interfering, although you may change your opinion of her as you read. This book is full of humour and will definitely put a smile on your face. Highly recommended for a quick and entertaining read.
Many thanks to the publishers, Notting Hill Press, for giving me a review copy of the book. The Curvy Girls Baby Club is published today (20th August) and you can order your copy by following any of the links below. For a short time, it is available for the offer price of 99p/99c.
What the book’s about:
Life, love and a Christmas due date. Ellie is fresh back from her honeymoon and can’t wait to share her news with her best friends Katie and Jane. To everyone’s surprise, mother-of-two Jane has news of her own… The women are due a day apart and Katie can’t wait to be an honorary auntie to the babies. But it’s hard to keep your sense of humour, not to mention your self-esteem, in the face of haemorrhoids and elasticated waistbands. Add a clingy mother-in-law, a career in cardiac arrest and a sex life that makes Mother Theresa look lusty, and soon their lives are as out of control as their bodies. As the co-founders of The Curvy Girls Club, where loving yourself is the only rule, will the friends be able to practice what they preach?
This is a novella of approximately 120 pages in print.
