Today it’s the turn of Anne Fuller to be my Blogger in the Spotlight. She blogs as The Book World of Anne and you can have a look round her blog here: The Book World of Anne
Thanks for agreeing to be part of my Blogger in the Spotlight feature. First of all, would you tell me a little about yourself?
Thanks for having me! My name is Anne, I’m 24 and I have loved reading ever since I can remember. I also love listening to music, watching musicals, playing the flute and travelling. I also studied for a BA in History a few years ago, which I really enjoyed. I hope to one day find a career that would let me read all day.
What books/authors did you enjoy as a child?
There were so many, but I particularly loved The Worst Witch series by Jill Murphy, The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis and the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling – they made my imagination run wild and I was convinced that I would get a letter to go to Hogwarts too.
What made you want to start blogging?
I’m constantly telling people about the books I’m reading at the moment or recommending books for people to read so when I heard about book blogging I thought it would be great to share the books I read with other people who love books as much as I do.
What do you enjoy most about blogging?
It’s great to talk to so many different people – authors and bloggers – who all love books as much as I do. It’s wonderful whenever I get asked to review a book by a publisher or author; I’m so excited every time a book arrives through the door. I have also enjoyed the opportunity to meet fellow bloggers and authors of the books I’ve been blogging about.
Tell me about your blog – sell yourself!
On my blog, The Book World of Anne, I review a wide variety of books. I particularly enjoy reading women’s fiction, YA novels, some sci-fi and fantasy and I also like reading the classics. I also hold Q&A’s with authors where I find out about their writing experience and what they love reading. My reviews are quite short as I want to avoid giving away spoilers as much as possible.
What’s your favourite book you’ve reviewed in the past year? Or favourite three if you really can’t choose.
That is such a tough question, I’m just glad you didn’t ask for an all-time favourite book, because that would be impossible. My favourite three books so far this year have been The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson, The Cellist of Sarajevo by Steven Galloway and Just One Day by Gayle Forman.
What are you reading just now?
The Piano Man Project by Kat French. (Nov 2015)
Tell me about your reading habits: book or kindle, bed or bath, morning or evening?
I used to swear that I would never read on a Kindle but then my parents gave me one for my birthday and I think they’re great – so handy for going on holiday – but I still love the real thing. During the week I read first thing in the morning, in my lunch break and most of the evening and at the weekends just as much as possible. My favourite place to read is in bed.
How can people follow your blog or connect with you on social media?
They can follow my blog at http://www.thebookworldofanne.blogspot.co.uk, I also have a Facebook page where I link my reviews at https://www.facebook.com/thebookworldofanne/ or they can follow me on Twitter @Anne_lovesbooks
And finally, if you could be a character in any book you have read, who would it be and why?
That’s a tricky question, but I would probably have to go with Hermione Granger because she’s not afraid to be herself and she loves learning and using her knowledge. I wish I had a memory like hers! Then of course there is the fact that she’s a witch with magic powers, which would be amazing!
