Today it’s the turn of Kate from Bibliophile Book Club to be my Blogger in the Spotlight. You can have a look at her blog here: Bibliophile Book Club

Would you tell me a little about yourself?

My name is Kate. I’m a 29 year old married mum of two. Any spare time I have (not much with a baby and a 6 year old 😂) is usually spent reading and reviewing books for my blog. I’ve always been an avid reader. My favourite genre these days in crime/thriller/suspense/mystery in any form.

What books/authors did you enjoy as a child?

When I was younger I loved to read Enid Blyton books. I used to collect any and all books in her series, and I’m not to dissimilar with how I collect favourite authors books these days. I also enjoyed Roald Dahl’s books too. The BFG was a firm favourite.

What made you want to start blogging?

I started blogging because I love books. I love to see them, read them, talk about them, BUY THEM!!! I didn’t want to be wrecking my friends heads on my Facebook page with all my posts and book humour stuff so figured I may as well start blogging as a way to get all my love of books out there.

What do you enjoy most about blogging?

I like the camaraderie to be honest. Especially lately. I’ve noticed since I started becoming more active with my blog and social networking that I’ve “met” some lovely people online and I’m lucky enough to call some of them my friends now. Book bloggers are super friendly and encouraging. Everyone has their favourite books etc but nobody looks down on anyone for their own choices or opinions. Now I’m sure there are some people out there who aren’t the nicest but thankfully I’ve not encountered any negativity.

Tell me about your blog – sell yourself!

My blog is called Bibliophile Book Club. I post up plenty of reviews, and I also participate in blog challenges and blog tours for authors. My book reviews are mainly crime to be honest but I’ll read outside my usual genre occasionally. I also have a Facebook page where I post book humour, shelfies (photos of my bookshelves 😊) and any other quick book bits’n’pieces!

What’s your favourite book you’ve reviewed in the past year? Or favourite three if you really can’t choose.

I’m going to have to go Top 3 for this one! I can’t pick just one! In no particular order:

1- I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh

2- For Reasons Unknown by Michael Wood

3- Sycamore Gap by LJ Ross

These books were fantastic, but only a selection of my top books of 2015 as I’ll be doing that post closer to the end of the year!

What are you reading just now (Nov 2015)?

At the moment, I’m actually not reading anything! I haven’t picked my next book yet! I’ve just done Bookouture Thriller Week and read 3 books in as many days so I’m taking a breather!

Tell me about your reading habits:  book or kindle, bed or bath, morning or evening?

My husband laughs at me for this, but I cannot start a new book unless I’m up in bed. My reasons for this are that it’s easier to concentrate with no distractions, it’s comfortable and I can relax.

I find it hard to concentrate on reading during the day as my daughter is a busy baby and there’s always stuff to be done so night time suits me best!

I will read off anything. I read hardbacks, paperbacks, I use my Kindle and I use the Kindle App on my iPad and my phone. I’ve noticed lately it’s actually easier to read off the iPad than the Kindle sometimes!

How can people follow your blog or connect with you on social media?

My blog is bibliophilebookclub.wordpress.com so you can follow me there and get email updates. I’m also on Facebookwww.facebook.com/bibliophilebookclub and on Twitter @bibliophilebc. I’m always around on social media so come and say hello! 😊

And finally, if you could be a character in any book you have read, who would it be and why?

I think I’d have to say Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series. I’m a huge Potter fan and Hermione’s bookish ways, combined with her wit and intelligence make her a perfect character for me. Not the most literary of characters, but I don’t care, I love her 😂
