The Heat is On is the sequel to The Mercury Travel Club. Now I haven’t read The Mercury Travel Club, but this was not a problem as the author has woven enough information into this story for the reader to understand the important points from the first book. The Heat is On follows Angie and her good friends Patty and Charlie as her beloved travel agency faces stiff competition from a rival opening just across the road. They need to find a new unique selling point, a new ‘next big thing’ if they are to have any chance of surviving.

The book is full of slightly scatty characters who I certainly was rooting for throughout the story, both in their professional and private lives. It was great to see that these were some older characters featuring in a book, showing that life is still to be enjoyed even if you aren’t in the first flush of youth. And these characters certainly knew how to enjoy themselves through ups and down, providing more than a few laughs along the way! The value of good friends offering love and support through good times and bad was heart-warming.

A light and entertaining read, this would be perfect to while away a few hours by the pool and is sure to leave you smiling.

My thanks to Kelly at Love Books Group Tours for inviting me to take part in the tour. The Heat is On will be published by Red Door Books on 5th July in paperback and e-book formats and you can order your copy online here: The Heat is On

From the back of the book

‘And have you booked in your vejazzler?’
‘My what?’
‘You can’t roll up with your grey wire wool when he’s expecting rhinestone!’

Angie Shepherd is back and this time she means business!

Life is perfect for Angie Shepherd. Her dreams of becoming an entrepreneur have come true, business is booming, and her best friend Patty is back in town. So when the opportunity of investing in a luxury hotel comes up, it seems like a no-brainer. It’s all going swimmingly until a rival travel agency opens up across the street. Before long, The Mercury Travel Club is undercut, double-crossed and in deep trouble. It’s time for Angie to up the stakes. But with costs mounting up, sales going down, and her personal life suddenly in freefall, can Angie and her friends weather the storm?

Witty and charming in equal measure, this feel-good novel shows that when the going gets tough, the tough definitely get going.

Don’t miss the rest of the tour
