Something a little different in today’s Festive Spotlight as I welcome storyteller and children’s picture-book author Jude Lennon. Her storytelling revolves around lambs and the Christmas book is a collection of Christmas stories featuring the lambs.
Welcome Jude. First of all, would you tell my blog readers a little about yourself?
I’m Jude and I’m a former teacher turned storyteller and author. I live in Liverpool which is a fabulous creative city. I’m involved in lots of things across the area including the Liverpool Literacy Cycle and I’m a director for Split Perspectivz CIC which creates fun literacy boxes for children and families. I’m also a patron for Kingsley & Co bookshop and Wrexham Carnival of Words. When I’m not writing, reading or telling tales I enjoy walking and camping in my vintage VW camper called Buttercup. She even features in her very own book! I’m also partial to gin and chocolate, sometimes at the same time!
In a nutshell, what is your Christmas book about?
My storytelling business is called Little Lamb Tales and I have five woolly mascots who feature in six of my books. This book is a collection of Christmas tales featuring the lambs in starring roles. You’ll meet Santa Lamby, Flossie the Fairy, Mrs Claus and two elves named Alfie and Cordero. As one reader describes it “Wonderful tales full of festive sparkle”
How did you come up with the title for your book?
Lamby and Flossie’s Christmas Collection just made sense. It describes the book completely. I did have a couple of other ideas but I put the suggestions to my followers and this was the one which was the overwhelming favourite.
How do you plan to celebrate Christmas this year?
My partner Dom and I will be spending the festive season with family. First with mine, then with his. We normally have everyone over to ours between Christmas and New Year too.
You have £5 to buy a Secret Santa gift – what would you buy?
A book! You can never go wrong with a book.
What’s your favourite Christmas song?
Mele Kalikimaka which is the Hawaiian Christmas song recorded by Bing Crosby and more recently KT Tunstall. I just love it.
What’s your essential Christmas food or drink?
I’m Gluten Free which does take the sparkle out of Christmas food a bit. When I was still eating wheat I loved the lebkuchen (German ginger biscuits). I do enjoy a nice glass of Baileys with lots of ice as well.
What Christmas book are you looking forward to reading this year?
The Mistletoe Mix-tape by The Christmas Collective
How can people follow you or connect with you on social media?
I’m on FB (Jude Lennon Author), Twitter and Insta (JudeLennonBooks
And you can also follow Little Lamb Tales on FB and Twitter (LittleLambTales)
And finally, what’s your favourite Christmas tree decoration?
I buy one new one every year and I bought a beautifully decorated egg when I was in Prague about 15 years ago and something about it makes me really happy. It’s blue and silver.
