I’m pleased to be joining the blogtour for Love In The Wings, organised by Rachel’s Random Resources, and to have the chance to chat with author Ellie White. Welcome Ellie, lovely to have you join me today. First of all, would you tell my blog readers a little about yourself?
I’m Ellie, I’m almost 33 (The same age as Miss McKenzie in Busted’s song, what I go to school for which will make sense to those of a certain age). I live in Sunderland with my husband and two little kids and I love to write love stories.
What inspired you to start writing?
I had all these little stories in my head and when I was made redundant, I decided I wanted to do something with all that free time and started to write.
Tell me about your journey to publication
Although these stories had been floating around in my head for years, I only started writing in lockdown. I told myself that no one needed to know and if I was rubbish it didn’t matter. I didn’t think I was good enough to trad publish so I self-published and ended up reaching number 7 in the best-selling romance chart on Amazon.
In a nutshell, what is your book about?
Love in the Wings follows Harriet, a former West End performer who returns to her hometown after a scandal in the capital. She meets Liam, an assistant stage manager on the production she’s working on and tells herself under no circumstance will she let herself fall for him… You’ll have to read the book to see how that goes for her.
How did you come up with the title for your book?
I honestly have no idea, book titles usually sneak up on me.
How do you plan to celebrate publication day?
I’m going to get my hair done and eat cake!
Do you have a work in progress just now?
I do, I’m currently editing my next novel Playing For Her, the first book in a football romance series I have coming out on the first of September.
What one book would you recommend to a friend and why?
Forget Me Not by Melissa Morgan. Her ability to tell stories is amazing and I’m honestly obsessed. Probably why she had no option but to be my friend haha!
What are you reading just now?
I’m reading an ARC of My Big Fat Fabulous First Love by Lyndsey Gallagher, another author friend.
If you were on Desert Island Discs, what one book would you take with you?
Can I say my Kindle with all my books? Haha If not probably Elle Kennedy’s The Deal.
Is there a book you’d love to see made into a film?
Aside from my own books of course. I’d love to see an adaptation of Lynsey Gallagher’s Professional Players series.
How can people follow you or connect with you on social media?
You can find me on Instagram and TikTok – both @elliewhite_writes
And finally, if you could be a character in any book you have read, who would it be and why?
I’d love to spend a day in Becky Bloomwood’s shoes. Although a day would probably be enough since her life is chaos 24/7.
Love in the Wings
Harriet Adams was a West End rising star until a lapse in judgement cost her: her dream job, her boyfriend and so-called friends.
She packs up her life and moves back to Sunderland where she gets a rare second chance at a career she thrives in. As she’s about open a shiny new musical in front of a home audience, she vows that this time, nothing is going to get in her way. With everything riding on this, she’ll play it safe, work hard and most importantly, stay away from theatre guys.
Cue Liam Wright, Assistant Stage Manager.
Liam is everything Harriet didn’t know she needed in her life, but he also has a secret. One that could advance his own career if he cashes it in. The only catch? It will ruin any chance of happiness with Harriet if she finds out.
Harriet and Liam share a love like no other, but will that be enough to save their budding relationship when the time comes?
